HFA Farm & Garden

Heritage Flex Academy families joined together on a Saturday in the fall to renovate and restore a neglected garden to its full glory! Kids of all ages pulled weeds, cleared garden beds, hauled debris, and planted new plants. The excitement in the air was buzzing as ideas partnered with muscle to pioneer the use of our garden area. Formerly dying citrus and necto-plum trees were showered with water and nutrients with the hopes of new growth. Potato vines, donated by El Plantio Nursery, were planted to spruce up the back alley and provide privacy for the garden. Thanks to the partnership and generosity of Grangetto's Farm & Garden Supply, we were able to get our new raised garden beds started, where each class planted vegetables and herbs, eagerly watching their growth throughout the season. With the help of RCP Block and Brick, our paver path guides visitors through the tomato plants, blossoming pole beans, and lettuce patch.

We are so grateful and appreciative to our volunteers, El Plantio Nursery, Grangetto’s Farm & Garden Supply, and RCP Block and Brick. Thanks to the support and supplies that have been generously provided, we are laying the foundation for an outdoor living classroom to be enjoyed and explored by students for years to come.
